The Behrens Science Museum was founded by Dr. Bruce Behrens in 2023. The museum, currently in the planning stages, is dedicated to promoting scientific skepticism and critical thinking, especially in the context of pseudoscience and paranormal claims.
In October 2024, he spoke at CSICon Las Vegas, delivering a talk titled “In Search of Skepticism in Science Museums.” His presentation critiqued the “just the facts” approach typical of many science museums and argued for the inclusion of skepticism and critical thinking as central exhibit themes.
In June 2025, Behrens was elected to the board of directors of the National Capital Area Skeptics, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting critical thinking and scientific understanding and serving as an information resource regarding extraordinary claims.
The founder earned his Ph.D. in High Energy Physics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1995. After completing postdoctoral research at Cornell University, he joined CNA,1 the US Navy’s Federally Funded Research and Development Corporation located in Arlington, Virginia. There, he continues to work as a research scientist, providing evidence-based analysis and advice to military leaders.
