Welcome

The Behrens Science Museum, established in May 2023, aims to build a museum in Washington DC dedicated to explaining how science works. While science museums often emphasize facts, we aim to help the public understand how these facts were discovered. It’s crucial to recognize that science is carried out by fallible humans, and that the scientific method was created to help scientists avoid errors that can lead to incorrect conclusions.

The museum will use pseudoscience and the paranormal to teach scientific methods and critical thinking. Scientists doubt that unidentified flying objects (UFOs) are alien spacecraft. They also approach claims about creatures like Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster with skepticism. The museum will explore why scientists hold these views and what kind of evidence could convince them that such phenomena are genuine.
